A310 MRTT (PART2)

AIR TRANSPORT ROLE

In an all-cargo transport role, the maximum non-fuel payload is 37t.
For the troop transport role, the aircraft can provide up to 214 seats. In a combined cargo/troop transport, 12 pallets and 54 troops can be carried. The air craft has four separate cargo compartments. The large main deck compartment is loaded though a wide door on the forward left side of the fuselage. The door can be opened to the vertical position to allow loading by crane. The other three cargo compartment are below deck. The aircraft can carry containerized and palletized loads with a pallet height up to 96in. Containers and pallets are moved by an electrically powered drive system and are locked manually.

In an air hospital role, the A310 MRTT can take up to six intensive care units and 56 stretcher cases.

OPERATIONAL  FLEXIBILITY

As a multi-role transport aircraft, the A310 MRT has proved itd flexibility and reliability - not only as a troop carrier and transport aircraft, but also an airborne intensive-care unit on numerous humanitarian missions. It takes no more than fifty hours to convert it for use in any of these roles.

The A310 MRTT fleet can be operated in the basic transporter roles, the MRT P3 configuration, which is multi role transport plus permanent installations for the tanker role. It can also be operated in the  tanker role by adding the removable tanker kit. The role change time slot from an MRT P3 configuration to an MRTT configuration with four ACTs is 52 hours, and 48 hours for the role change from MRTT to MRT P3 configuration.

On the MRT P3 configuration, with one shift of 10 hours, it takes five days for conversion from the combi to the passenger version, and three to four days for conversion from combi to air hospital (MedEvac version).

The end.
